What is Swine influenza (Flu)?

Swine Influenza (Flu) is a respiratory disease of pigs caused by type A influenza that regularly cause outbreaks of influenza among pigs.

How can I avoid?

  • Wash your hands with soap and water, stay in good health, get plenty of sleep, be physically active, manage your stress, drink plenty of fluids and eat nutritious food.
  • Avoid close contact with people who are sick and try not to touch surfaces that may be contaminated with the flu virus.
  • Avoid touching your eyes, nose or mouth.

How does swine flue spread?

  • Flu can spread to human beings.
  • Flu viruses spread mainly from person to person through coughing or sneezing of people with influenza.
  • Sometimes it spreads when people may touch something that is infected with flu viruses and then touching their mouth or nose.
  • You do not get this virus from cooked pork.
  • There is no vaccine available to protect against flu.
